Credits transfer policy:

Vanderbilt University requires all students including transfer students to stay on campus. There are various housing options available.

Transfer students support:

The Office of Transition Programs offers support to transferred students. Transferred students attend Transfer Student Orientation and meet Venderbilt commodores so that they can learn more about the campus. There are transfer student groups led by upper-class transfer students to help new transfer students navigate their way through Vanderbilt.

Financial aids:

Vanderbilt meets 100% of a family’s demonstrated financial needs. Loans aren’t included in financial aids. Instead Vanderbilt offers financial grants. Under certain conditions, loans from federal or other sources may be made available to students. Merit-based scholarship isn’t available for transfer students.

Acceptance rate:

Admission to Vanderbilt is highly competitive for transfer students. Admission is granted based on a number of factors including academic merit, GPA, competitive test scores, with a compelling reason why the student chose Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt gives preference to students who has already been a part of a similar campus with full-time enrollment.

Admission is also dependent on the availability of seats for the program you are applying. The transfer acceptance rate is 25.24%. Out of 1557 transfer applicants in 2019, only 393 students made it though the admission process.

Vanderbilt student transfers:

Vanderbilt accepts over 200 transfer students every year. A student is considered for admission only if he/she has completed 12 semester hours of credit. Generally, the accepted transfer students secure a GPA of B+, A- or a higher grade. The admission requirements are:

  • Submitting the Application form through the Universal College Application, Coalition Application or the Common Application
  • $50 Application fee. Qualified students can apply for application fee waiver.
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official college transcripts from every institution previously attended
  • Transfer college report
  • Letters of recommendation from two professors
  • SAT/ACT score

Additional requirements are required for those opting for Blair School of Music applicants. They’ll have to submit a music resume, prescreening audition video, and two music teacher recommendations.
